We just love a warm summer night when there’s a fire burning in every firepit here at Tomhegan. Some guests relax with their feet up around the fire while others cook mouthwatering meals, complete with delectable desserts. And who doesn’t love roasted marshmallows and s’mores? No one we know, but sometimes you need to change it up. Here are some of the treats we love and think you will too!
- Campfire Cinnamon Roll Ups: This is so much easier than it sounds. Wrap unbaked crescent rolls around skewers . Roll in a cinnamon sugar mixture. Cook over campfire for 5 minutes, rotating frequently. If you feel like going the extra mile, mix powdered sugar and water together to make a glaze and drizzle over your cooked roll-up!
- Banana Boat S’mores: For the health nut, this one can be made on your grill or with the help of some aluminum foil, at the campfire. Slice a banana lengthwise, take a few scoops out and eat ‘em up. Add whatever treats your heart desires such as mini marshmallows, chocolate chips, toffee chips or maybe even nuts. Close the banana up as best you can. Wrap in aluminum foil and cook for about 5 minutes. Open slowly and carefully. The banana skin will have blackened a little. Sprinkle it with crushed graham crackers or whip cream.
- Campfire Cones: Fill a waffle cone with whichever marshmallow and toppings you wish. Reese’s would be yummy in this one. Wrap the cone with foil. Place over the campfire or grill for about 5 minutes. Enjoy this easy to eat creation!
- Less Mess S’mores: Little hands and s’mores can get very messy really fast. Switch out the chocolate bar for chocolate chips and the graham crackers for a snack size bag or cup of teddy grahams. Let them roast up a perfect marshmallow or two and drop it in, mix it up with a spoon and enjoy! With the help of a microwave and fluff, this is also an easy solution to rainy weather indoor s’mores.
