Do you have some hard-core campers in your vacation crew? Well we’ve got great news for them! Right in front of Tomhegan is Farm Island, where campers can experience the ultimate Maine backcountry adventure! This 980-acre state wildlife preserve with several camping sites has so much to offer visitors. Each site has a wonderful beachfront and is equipped with a picnic table, fire ring and privy. Some of the sites even have rope swings for those warm summer days! So ship the campers to the island for a night while you stay in the comfort of your cabin. The next day they can return to electricity and a warm shower!

Not excited about a wilderness overnight adventure? No worries! The campsites are also wonderful to just visit for the day!  Bring a lunch and your swimming gear to enjoy the beachfront all to yourself!

These sites are all first-come first-serve and are carry-out. Learn more about Moosehead Lake Public Reserved Lands and Backcountry Camping in Maine!
